Current models
The current generally available model is Gemini 3.8 Flash, with up to 1 million tokens of context. Gemini 3.5 Pro, originally expected in July 2026, has not shipped as a generally available model. Instead, Google announced the next generation, Gemini 4 Argon, in late September 2026. Gemini 4 Argon has been generally available since 13.10.2026, with about 1 million tokens of context. Older versions such as Gemini 1.5 have been retired.
Workspace integration
Gemini sits directly inside Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet. The Workspace Business Standard and Plus plans include the assistant without an additional license. This makes Gemini attractive for companies already working on Google Workspace.
Strengths
Gemini stands out for native multimodality, a very large context window, and direct connection to Google services. LLM inference runs on Google’s own infrastructure, including its own chips (TPUs).
Data protection
For Workspace customers: prompts and responses are not used for model training, data stays within the customer context and is covered by the Cloud Data Processing Addendum. Google remains a US provider nonetheless, relevant for data residency and digital sovereignty.
