Michael Wallner

UI-Design-Strategian

I have been working with netzstrategen as a visual and UI designer since the beginning of 2011. My job is to design digital products in a functional and contemporary way, so that they are easy to use, their content can be consumed with pleasure, and users reach their destinations.

In our Karlsruhe office, I work closely with our colleagues in the experience and design team to translate the concepts into a user interface based on learned standards and patterns. The design decisions are based on numbers and analysis but conceived from the user’s point of view. The visual design complements that subconsciously, and reaches users on an emotional level. In this way, the final product combines the goals of the business and the goals of the users, the products can be used intuitively, and the target groups are addressed by the appropriate look and feel.

From concept to details: what I love about my job is the combination of its very technical aspect on the one hand and its conceptual aspect on the other. I really enjoy bringing the concept and technical side together, like in setting up design and typography systems, working them out in detail, and working closely with the development team. I particularly enjoy working out the details and tinkering with problems until they are solved.

The details are not the details. They make the design.

In my job I have to think ahead, consider many details, and cover all eventualities of a user interface. That’s why my favorite value is “Think ahead”.

In my free time I’m involved in a lot of crafts, furniture making, interior design, lighting, product design, and gardening. In addition, music has a great importance in my life: seeing concerts, collecting records, listening to music with friends and, if time permits, making music myself.
