I create platforms that support organisations – and I love it. To do this, I explain and coordinate to empower people and build the necessary processes and structures. My work is done when I have made myself replaceable. It makes me happy to see many people who now have a better working world because of me.
The “Sunny Trinity” in three roles is my ideal. As a consultant, I moderate workshops and hackathons, prepare analyses, research and evaluations. As a technical project manager, I moderate meetings, coordinate projects and prepare tasks for others. As a developer, I review code change proposals from others and write code myself. As a nerd and generalist, I like variety and try to keep my finger on the pulse.
Whether it’s about bringing regional journalism into the digital age in terms of technology and organisation or building an online empire for garden furniture is just a detail – what counts is the use of open source software and teaching others that almost nobody is doing anything for the first time. If you share your knowledge and solutions with others today, you will get exciting solutions back from other smart minds tomorrow.
That’s no coincidence. I have been self-employed since my school days and founded various start-ups. Before joining netzstrategen in 2015, I spent many years working with experts worldwide in web applications, usability, design and accessibility to further develop the open source content management system Drupal. Today, hundreds of thousands of developers and users work with these solutions – another platform that I am proud of and have learnt a lot from.
